Working Together
I design and oversee home upgrades that improve comfort, health, and energy performance while fixing awkward layouts — all in one coordinated plan.
I combine retrofit expertise with smart layout design, so you get the best of both in one coordinated plan.
Is This For You?
You’ll likely be a good fit if:
-
You want to solve both comfort/health issues and layout frustrations in one go
-
You want clarity and confidence before builders are called or compromises are locked in
-
You value long-term results over the cheapest possible shortcut
Not a Fit If…
To protect both our time, I don’t take on projects where:
-
The aim is “just a quick drawing” to get through planning without deeper design or retrofit thinking
-
Decisions will be made on the fly during the build without proper preparation
-
You expect a one-size-fits-all package regardless of your home’s unique needs
-
There’s no real commitment to follow through on agreed plans once design starts
How We’ll Work Together
1 – Clarity First
Every project starts with a Feasibility Study.
Just as your doctor might order tests before treatment, your home needs the right surveys before design begins. Skipping this step is like working in the dark. I’ll advise which surveys are needed, suggest surveyors, or arrange them on your behalf.
2 – A Design You Can Stand By
You’ll get a design you’re happy with — and confident to take to builders for quotes. This may include both the immediate project and a medium-term plan if you want to upgrade your home in stages.
3 – Smooth Delivery
I help you shortlist builders, secure statutory permissions, and — while works are underway — keep an eye on progress so completed work is correct before stage payments are made.
Leaving you to deal with the builder alone is not an option. Many builders dislike inspections, but the cost of catching mistakes early is far lower than fixing them later.
What We Might Do
-
Extend your home or convert a loft into a habitable room
-
Reposition or resize windows for better light, privacy, and views
-
Add or upgrade insulation for year-round comfort
-
Improve airtightness and ventilation strategies
-
Replace or upgrade heating systems for comfort and efficiency
Example Results
Before: Cold, dark kitchen cut off from the garden; high heating bills; recurring condensation on windows.
After: Bright kitchen with direct garden access, triple-glazed windows in the right places, improved insulation, and balanced ventilation — warm in winter, cool in summer, and free of condensation.
